Frequently Asked Questions

Public Realms

Learn about Public Realms and how they differ from user-created Realms on Moonbeam.

What is a Public Realm?

Public Realms are places where anyone can stream, post, and chat about the dedicated topic.

Currently we have three Public Realms centered around tabletop games (Tabletop Guild), video games (Video Game Alliance) and "just chatting" (Chatter Corps).

How are Public Realms different from user created Realms?

Public Realms differ from user created realms in three key ways:

  1. Everyone who joins the Realm instantly has permissions to chat, create posts, and stream.
  2. There is only one chat room (#general).
  3. You cannot subscribe to the Realm.

Public Realms are intended to be a more streamlined, genre-focused experience where anyone can create content during Open Beta.

Can I create a Public Realm?

Not right now!

Who can stream in Public Realms?

Anyone with a verified email address can stream in Public Realms. To stream into a Realm, follow the guidance in "How to Stream" and select the Public Realm you would like to stream into.

Is the chat moderated in Public Realms?

Yes! Pyxis moderates the chats in the Public Realms and stream chats. Right now Moonbeam staff operate the moderation queue.
